Things are looking bad for Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric as investigations into family business heat up / Queerty

Things are looking bad for Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric

Don Jr., Ivanka, and Eric Trump “should be worried,” former White House Counsel John Dean warns.

Speaking to Don Lemon on CNN this week, Dean was asked about the ongoing investigations into the Trump Organization and whether the adult children of the ex-president might be in trouble.

Earlier this month, Don Jr. was deposed as part of the Washington, D.C. Attorney General’s lawsuit alleging the misuse of Trump inaugural funds. Jr. is also at the center of the Manhattan District Attorney’s office into the Trump Organization’s finances.

Meanwhile, Ivanka was deposed by lawyers from the DC Attorney General’s office in December, and Eric was deposed by the Manhattan DA’s office back in October.

“I think they should be worried,” Dean said matter-of-factly. He went on to explain that the Trump family has managed to weasel their way out of trouble with Manhattan DA Cy Vance in the past, but he doesn’t think that’s going to happen this time around.

“I don’t think [Vance] looks very favorably on the Trump family anymore, and he wants to clean up his reputation,” Dean said. “So, he’s probably being very aggressive about them and pursuing any potential criminality.”

On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court denied Trump’s last-ditch, years-long effort to keep his tax returns and other financial documents out of the hands of prosecutors.

As a result, millions of pages of documents were turned over the the Manhattan D.A.’s office, including tax returns, tax prep documents, financial statements, and communications related to the tax returns.

“There’s almost a terabyte of data,” Dean told Lemon. “That’s massive. That’s thousands upon thousands of documents.”

“This is going to show how they prepared the tax returns over the last eight years that they’re looking at. The memos back and forth. Records of phone calls where the accountants were being instructed. So, if there’s malfeasance, non-feasance or misfeasance in there it’s very likely to be in that terabyte.”

Circling back to Don Jr., Dean explained that his involvement in the family business appears to have been limited, largely due to the fact that “his father didn’t have the greatest faith in his skills and abilities and he was often kept out of things.”

And all this time, we thought Eric was the dumb one.

Dean concluded by saying that there are a lot of directions the cases could go, and it will likely take time to sort everything out.

“Who knows where all this is going to go?” he said. “The conspiracy law in New York is very broad, as most states have, and they’ve been operating clearly in secret for a long time. And that’s what Mr. Vance is looking at. So, I think he’s got jeopardy.”

What’s an entitled couple to do after they’ve wreaked havoc on democracy?

If you’re Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner, the options may seem limited. After all, between Jared’s role in the administration’s disastrous COVID response and Ivanka’s consideration of Trump rioters as “American patriots,” the couple haven’t exactly burnished their resumes or social credentials.

They are well aware of the dilemma they face. Ivanka is reportedly in a “panic” that the Trump insurrection has harmed her political prospects. She had hoped to become the first female president, apparently on the premise that the the presidency should be a family business. The mob of Trump supporters storming the Capitol vaporized those dreams.

The Trump brand is so toxic right now that everyone, from the Professional Golf Association (PGA) to the City of New York, is tripping over themselves to sever ties with it.

But all is not lost. There’s plenty that Jared and Ivanka can do to keep in the public eye and earn money, the overriding goal of any Trump family member. Here are some suggestions:

1. A reality show

Life with Javanka! It’s an opportunity to show the human side of being fabulously wealthy and utterly clueless. Viewers can sympathize with Jared’s struggles to build a mansion on their 30-acre Florida estate, or Ivanka’s battles with stepmother Melania.

Besides, reality shows run in the family. We wouldn’t have had President Donald Trump without The Apprentice.

2. Goya brand ambassador

Remember how Ivanka violated federal ethics rules by endorsing Goya products after the food company’s CEO supported her dad? Maybe that was just her debut as the company’s spokesmodel.

After all, nothing says authentic Latin food more than a multi-millionaire blonde whose father is a racist.

3. Remake The Picture of Dorian Gray.

Oscar Wilde wrote this story about a portrait that shows all the depravity of the title character while the character remains ageless.

Jared is perfect for a new movie version. Gray’s narcissism of the character would come naturally to him, to say nothing of his dipped-in-plastic look.

4. Fashionable militia gear

Ivanka’s clothing line went down in flames after retailers dropped it because of her father’s policies. But there’s still a market among Trump supporters.

How about reviving the line, but tailored to insurrectionists? High-fashion militia gear could be the next big thing, and Ivanka can have the field all to herself.

5. Milk thistle promotion

Right-wing figures make buckets of money hawking questionable products. The folks behind milk thistle extract had to settle for disgraced gay provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos to sing its praises as a kidney cleanser.

Luckily, Jared and Ivanka are much bigger names. If the milk thistle gig isn’t available, there are plenty of others, such as Jim Bakker’s Silver Solution or, even better, MyPillows made by fellow election denialist Mike Liddell.

6. Financial advisors

As a fabulously wealthy couple, Jared and Ivanka can sell their services to others who want to be reach their heights. There are two problems with this opportunity, however.

The first is that step one of their program is to be born rich. The second is that the Trump financial empire is teetering on the edge of disaster, so this chance would only be available for a short time.

7. Imodium spokespersons

The news that Secret Service agents were banned from using the bathrooms in the “Javanka” D.C. residence may have looked like one last PR disaster for the couple. But actually, it’s a job opening.

Can’t you see the couple proclaiming the merits of Imodium? For other people, of course. “When you really don’t need them to go…”

It’s a natural for the pair.

Ivanka implies she might be moving to the moon or Mars, Twitter overwhelmingly approves / Queerty

Ivanka implies she might be moving to the moon or

Another day, another embarrassing tweet from Ivanka Marie Trump.

Yesterday, the soon-to-be-ex White House senior advisor shared a video of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 mission lifting off from the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida.

We are going to the Moon soon and Mars thereafter,” Ivanka tweeted. “America, and our President @realDonaldTrump, dreams big and shoot for the stars!”

To be clear, by “we” Ivanka wasn’t talking about herself or her family. She actually meant the team of astronauts–Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, Shannon Walker, and Soichi Noguchi–currently en route to the International Space Station, where they will spend the next six months. Also, the Trump administration had nothing to do with the mission.

Twitter was quick to support the idea of Ivanka and her family leaving Earth after Joe Biden assumes the presidency on January 20, 2021…

Unfortunately for many, Ivanka will not be moving to the Moon or Mars come January.

CNN reports that she and Jared are actually thinking about relocating back to New York, where they were once prominent figures in Manhattan’s social scene prior to 2016, attending the Met Gala each year, making appearances at major fashion events, and rubbing elbows at all the biggest society events.

“[The President] was so awful and divisive about New York, saying it’s a nightmare or that it’s empty, or a has-been,” says Jill Kargman, a former acquaintance of Ivanka and Jared. “No one here is going to forget that. To even come back here after everything he’s said, it’s not going to work.”

The rest of Twitter seems to agree…

Fired Ivanka reportedly considering multiple reality TV offers because of course she is / Queerty

Fired Ivanka reportedly considering multiple reality TV offers because of

Well, that didn’t take long.

Less than 48 hours after Donald Trump was declared the loser in the 2020 presidential election, his daughter Ivanka is already cutting her losses and plotting her next career pivot.

For the past four years, Ivanka has served as senior advisor to her father, during which she has made a fool of herself in front of international leaders and racked up no shortage of ethics complaints.

But now that she’s about to be out of a job, she’s said to be weighing several reality TV offers.

“Reality TV made this family superstars,” a top TV insider tells OK! magazine. “It was appearing on The Celebrity Apprentice next to their father, Donald Trump, that made Ivanka, Donald Jr. and Eric into primetime stars.”

“Ivanka is the family member that is getting the most offers, including interest from Dancing With the Stars. The real question isn’t if the show wants her, it is if Ivanka will want to hit the ballroom floor now that she is one of the most famous daughters in the world.”

Another source claims, “Ivanka is getting more offers than she has ever received in her life. She could have her own primetime cable show if she wanted it.”

But the source says the fist daughter “isn’t interested” in doing Dancing With The Stars. She’s way classier than that!

“She isn’t opposed to going back to reality shows. After all, her dad became the President after his reality show. But the shows she is looking to create are much more similar to The Celebrity Apprentice and Shark Tank than Dancing With the Stars.

“She knows that what she does right now will determine her future for years to come.”

Twitter has a lot to say about Ivanka’s impending reality TV/DWTS pivot…

Ivanka might actually be screwed for real thanks to her dad’s tax returns / Queerty

Ivanka might actually be screwed for real thanks to her

You’ve likely heard by now that over the weekend the New York Times dropped a bombshell story about the Trump Organization’s tax records, which appear to be rife with fraud.

There’s a lot in the report. Like how Trump didn’t pay any taxes in 10 of the last 15 years. Or how spent $70,000 on his bad ’80s combover then wrote it off as a business expense.

Also in the report is something that may mean trouble for none other than Ivanka Trump.

According to the Times, Trump Organization tax records show that between 2010 and 2018, the company wrote off $26 million in “consulting fees.” Of that $26 million, almost $750,000 appear to have gone directly into Ivanka’s pockets.

Reports show that the Trump Organization paid $747,622 to some random consulting company Ivanka owns, then it turned around and wrote that exact same amount off as a tax deduction for hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver.

Kindy shady, right?

But it gets shadier.

Because those same hotel projects in Hawaii and Vancouver were also being managed by Ivanka, as part of her responsibilities as executive officer with the Trump Organization, for which she drew an annual salary of approximately $480,000.

In other words, it appears Ivanka hired herself as a consultant on a project for her dad’s company that she was already being paid to oversee, which could end up being a biiiiig problem for the Trumps, since it’s against the law for business owners to write off huge fees to “independent contractors” who aren’t really independent contractors.

Speaking to Insider, Michael Dambra, associate professor of accounting and law at the University at Buffalo School of Management, says this is a textbook tax avoidance scheme.

“I would say for family companies, it’s a typical tax avoidance strategy,” he explains.

Dambra adds that the Trump Organization will likely have to prove that the $750,000 in consulting fees it paid to Ivanka really was a valid business expense and that her rate, which was almost $275,000 more than her annual salary, was reasonable.

Dambra also calls Ivanka’s enormous consulting fee “a little unusual,” but “it’s possible that Ivanka Trump has a fantastic consulting business and so they were the best company for the job.”

Given her track record with every other business she and her family has ever owned, we doubt that.
