The inspiration for putting together this outdoor microwedding styled shoot in Brooklyn was to capture a real wedding in the era of this pandemic. We wanted to give couples who had to cancel or reschedule their wedding hope that there are options to celebrate their love. It was also very important for us to have a LGBTQ+ couple for this shoot. We absolutely feel that there needs to be more diversity in the wedding industry, so it is a priority for us to continue to show inclusivity in our work. The rest of the inspiration for the shoot came from our couple!
Even though this wasn’t the couple’s actual wedding, they have been together for quite some time and allowed us to lean into their personal style in all the elements of the shoot. The color palette not only complimented the space, but is also a favorite of our couple. Their close friend, our graphic designer, created custom signage and a guest book especially for the shoot. The photos of this couple skateboarding and in the laundromat truly capture who they are: They love to have fun and are just REAL. From the candid photos in the Brooklyn streets to the intimate ceremony and reception on the patio of a local restaurant, you can truly catch a glimpse into their love story.—Lauren Fernandez, Yellow Bow Florals
