Cynthia Nixon is getting the last laugh on Twitter after being smeared by Andrew Cuomo in 2018 / Queerty

The majority of House Democrats from New York are calling on Democratic Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign in the wake of mounting sexual harassment allegations being made against him and his botched handling of COVID-19 deaths at state nursing homes.

And everyone’s talking about Cynthia Nixon.

As you may recall, the Sex and the City actress ran against Cuomo for the Democratic nomination to be Governor of New York back in 2018. But after being outspent 10-1, called an “unqualified lesbian” by another female politician, and accused of being an anti-Semite in a campaign mailer sent to heavily Orthodox Jewish communities, she lost by a whopping 30 points.

In 2019, Nixon told Time she never really expected to win the nomination, calling her odds “very, very small,” given Cuomo’s strong political ties and deep pockets. “It was very scary,” she said about going up against him. “It was very hard on me. It was very hard on my family.”

But it looks like she may be getting the last laugh now that his political career appears to be over after a sixth woman has come forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct. Nixon’s name has been trending all afternoon on Twitter.

Don Jr. wasted absolutely no time b*tching about his dad’s Twitter ban…on Twitter / Queerty

Don Jr. wasted absolutely no time b*tching about his dad’s

2020 forced some major existential questions into the foreground of society, and 2021 is already adding a few to the list. As of Friday evening, there’s one more: Who is Donald Trump without Twitter? The soon-to-be-former president was banned from the service for life on Friday evening.

We imagine Trump will be asking himself that when he wakes in the middle of the night and reaches for his phone from muscle memory only to realize he can’t tweet, and you can be sure his closest allies will be huffing about the move. And first up from the inner circle is Don Jr., who wasted zero time complaining about the unfairness of it all.

Of course, he aired his grievances on Twitter, first writing: “We are living Orwell’s 1984. Free-speech no longer exists in America. It died with big tech and what’s left is only there for a chosen few. This is absolute insanity!”

And following that up with: “So the ayatollah, and numerous other dictatorial regimes can have Twitter accounts with no issue despite threatening genocide to entire countries and killing homosexuals etc… but The President of the United States should be permanently suspended,” adding, “Mao would be proud.”

For context, Twitter banned Donald Trump from the platform for life less than 11 days before he is scheduled to leave office. The move came two days after the president incited an angry mob to break into the U.S. Capitol while Congress was in the process of certifying Joe Biden‘s victory, a terroristic rampage that left five dead and the nation stunned at a traitorous element in its midst.

Senator Josh Hawley made a similar “free speech is dead” declaration after Simon & Schuster canceled his book deal in the wake of the events at the Capitol. Hawley was one of the senators accused of helping to incite the mob of rioters. Of course nobody is entitled to a book deal under the First Amendment, just like free speech has limits, inciting violence among them.

Kellyanne Conway destroyed on Twitter for telling domestic terrorists she emboldened to “just stop” / Queerty

As domestic terrorists breached the U.S. Capitol yesterday in an attempt to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden as the winner of the 2020 presidential election, Kellyanne Conway took to Twitter to urge them to please “stop, just stop.”

“STOP. Just STOP. Peace. Law and Order. Safety for All,” the pro-Trump propagandist tweeted.

Conway followed that up with another tweet sharing an article about Speaker Nancy Pelosi‘s office being ransacked by the MAGA militia she helped build during her years spent working for Donald Trump.

“This is not appropriate, not legal and not funny. Get out,” she wrote.

There are sooooo many things we’d like to say right now, but perhaps it’s better if we let others do the speaking for us.

First, there’s Conway’s teenage daughter, Claudia, who posted this video to TikTok asking her mother how it feels to have failed at, frankly, everything.

Now let’s take a look at some of the responses to Conway’s tweet…

Our personal favorite is this response from Mary Trump…

Ivanka implies she might be moving to the moon or Mars, Twitter overwhelmingly approves / Queerty

Ivanka implies she might be moving to the moon or

Another day, another embarrassing tweet from Ivanka Marie Trump.

Yesterday, the soon-to-be-ex White House senior advisor shared a video of NASA’s SpaceX Crew-1 mission lifting off from the Kennedy Space Center on Merritt Island, Florida.

We are going to the Moon soon and Mars thereafter,” Ivanka tweeted. “America, and our President @realDonaldTrump, dreams big and shoot for the stars!”

To be clear, by “we” Ivanka wasn’t talking about herself or her family. She actually meant the team of astronauts–Michael Hopkins, Victor Glover, Shannon Walker, and Soichi Noguchi–currently en route to the International Space Station, where they will spend the next six months. Also, the Trump administration had nothing to do with the mission.

Twitter was quick to support the idea of Ivanka and her family leaving Earth after Joe Biden assumes the presidency on January 20, 2021…

Unfortunately for many, Ivanka will not be moving to the Moon or Mars come January.

CNN reports that she and Jared are actually thinking about relocating back to New York, where they were once prominent figures in Manhattan’s social scene prior to 2016, attending the Met Gala each year, making appearances at major fashion events, and rubbing elbows at all the biggest society events.

“[The President] was so awful and divisive about New York, saying it’s a nightmare or that it’s empty, or a has-been,” says Jill Kargman, a former acquaintance of Ivanka and Jared. “No one here is going to forget that. To even come back here after everything he’s said, it’s not going to work.”

The rest of Twitter seems to agree…

Viral video of gay proposal has reduced Twitter to a weeping mess

Gay couple Brandon and Cody TikTok Twitter proposal marriage

A viral video of a guy surprise proposing to his boyfriend has turned us into a blubbering, weeping mess – and serves as a timely reminder that there are good things in the world.

In the video, Cody distracted his boyfriend Brandon by asking him to look at something in the distance. He then quickly got down on one knee and pulled out a ring.

Brandon promptly burst into tears and struggled to get any words out – but he eventually put out his hand for his new fiancé to put the ring on his finger.

The video was recorded in August of last year and shared on TikTok, but blew up on Twitter last week after it was shared on the last day of Pride Month.

Twitter was reduced to tears by the heartwarming, beautiful proposal video.

“Oh my god I’m crying. Beautiful,” one Twitter user commented.

Another person said: “I wish there was a ‘love’ button on Twitter because this is SO beautiful and sweet! Congratulations boys! I hope you have a very long and happy life together!”

I guess you could say, it was such a perfect relationship, they both knew right away and Cody got down on one knee on August 17, 2019 and asked Brandon for his hand in marriage.

Someone else simply said: “Yes you made us all cry!”

Cody and Brandon are now planning to tie the knot on October 24 of this year, according to TheKnot.com.

It was love at first sight when Cody and Brandon met for the first time in March 2019.

On the website, the couple describe their love story as being “not quite like any other”.

They met on Instagram in December 2017 and started “frequently chatting”.

The pair quickly became online friends and they finally met for the first time in March 2019.

When Cody visited Brandon in Virginia, it was love at first sight.

“I guess you could say, it was such a perfect relationship, they both knew right away and Cody got down on one knee on August 17, 2019 and asked Brandon for his hand in marriage,” the website says.

The couple are planning on having two children together and will live in North Carolina, where Cody pratices law.
